On Sunday, 4th September, Buena Onda will bring a slice of Oaxaca (wa-ha-ka) to the hutongs of Beijing. Join us at White Tiger Village for a sit-down street feast featuring a special Oaxacan-inspired set menu and more. Seating is limited so book a table now and join the fiesta!
Oaxaca - what?
Oaxaca, a state in Mexico's splendid south, owes its gastronomical renown to its mountain ranges and surrounding coastal areas. These geographical traits and the vivacious spirit of the Oaxacan people contribute to its cuisine being among the most varied in Mexico. Hatchery Food Director, Dave Ball traveled through Mexico in 2014 and counts his experience of Oaxacan street food among the highlights of his trip. Next Sunday, he relives these memories in one of Beijing's favourite hutongs.
The below menu is inspired by Oaxacan street-side barbecue - delicious marinated meats and vegetables char-grilled on coals and served with a range of sides (homemade salsas, guacamole and pickles) and tortillas. This sit-down street feast includes a Mexican-inspired cocktail, Tlayuda (our take on the crispy Oaxacan stacked tortilla dish), barbecue spread and dessert. Diners can choose either the Meat or Non-Meat choice for the set menu.
A selection of craft beers and artisan wines will be available for purchase from White Tiger Village.
