New Donuts, Sichuan in Beiluo & More Openings

A bistro named after the nickname of a local river (hint: it's French), a new donut shop, pizza in Gulou and Sichuan in Beiluo.

Such are the new joints on our radar this week...

Le Seine Bistro

Le Seine takes its name from its location – it’s near the Liangma River, aka Seine of Beijing – and thus isn’t French in any way shape, or form. A quick glance over the menu would make one think the restaurant is just a run-of-the-mill Chinese take on a Western restaurant. They’ve got burgers, pasta, steak and all that. A closer look, though, will find tapas of varying kinds with their own menu – from hot to cold to fried – and a few special dishes here and there.

Poke Donuts

Opening in the same courtyard as BigEats and Double O’s this past weekend – and run by the owner of those two venues – Poke Donuts sells flavors ranging from classic glazed to raspberry to pistachio from behind a hole in the wall of the courtyard they’re located in at 798. While the chocolate in their Sea Salt Dark Chocolate donut leaves a bit to be desired in sweetness, their glazed is a true winner that’s worth trying one or two (or three) of.

Pizza Pizza

Neapolitan pizza place Pizza Pizza got its start as Little Italy, selling pies from a window next to nugget in Andingmen and these pizzas are now also available at newly opened Gulou bar The Factory. Seeing as they’re Neapolitan, you can expect everything from Parma Ham to Margherita but they’ll also do Pepperoni and a few more options. Right now you can enjoy buy one get one free on all their pies with the purchase of an alcoholic drink until Jun 4.
