A Few Places to Get Halloween Costumes and Accessories in Beijing

Unfortunately Beijing doesn’t really have the equivalent of a Party World, Spirit Halloween, or other big costume shops that are an easy option when it comes to finding a Halloween costume. However, there are some alternatives such as rental shops, WeChat costume exchange groups and of course the beloved Taobao that you can choose from instead.

Menghui Tianjiao Costume Zuling Guan

Right in the heart of the CBD lies this huge costume rental shop. While not a Halloween costume shop per se, it everything from traditional Chinese gowns to a few notably classic Halloween costumes like witches or even a Bing Dwen Dwen costume if you fancy dressing up as the popular Winter Olympic mascot. You can have a browse of some the options available on their Dianping page (see the Chinese name below) or have a hunt through their warehouse. Prices vary depending on the costume with the cheapest starting at around RMB 70 for 24 hours up to around RMB 600 for more extravagant gowns.

Heyi Costume Leasing

Another costume rental shop in Beijing, Heyi Costume Leasing is located in southeast Chaoyang district. They have a range of different costumes available including spooky Halloween costumes for both adults and children along with movie costumes, like characters from The Avengers. Prices start off at around RMB 70 for 24 hours for more basic costumes and most of their cosplay style costumes are RMB 150 for 24 hours.

Costume Sell and Exchange WeChat Group

For an economically friendly way to buy a Halloween costume or get rid of an old costume you no longer want, there's a great WeChat group dedicated to this. Set up in the run up to Halloween last year, you might be able to find just what you’re looking for or perhaps stumble across the perfect outfit in this group. Xiaoshangpin Pifa Market

Now, you might not be able to find a complete costume at this market located under McDonald’s and Wu Mart just east of Dongsishitiao. However, they do have a few Halloween bits and bobs which can be fashioned into a Halloween outfit if you’re willing to get a little creative.

Taobao

Taobao users may have noticed that recently there have been problems getting deliveries in from outside Beijing for some stores, due to the ongoing meeting in Beijing. These delays may have put a spanner in the works for readers who usually rely on Taobao to get their Halloween costume, but we have a work around for you! Currently there should be no issues receiving deliveries from within Beijing so all you need to do is to filter your Taobao results to only show stores where Beijing is the dispatch location. You can see a step by step guide on how to do this below.

Step 1 – Search for your desired costume e.g. Halloween costume 万圣节服装 wànshèngjiē fúzhuāng

Step 2 – Click on the filter button 筛选 shāixuǎn

Step 3 – In the dispatch location (发货地 fāhuò dì) section select Beijing 北京 Běijīng

Step 4 – Press the right hand orange button that says view 查看 chákàn

Step 5 – And voila! now your results will be filtered to only show stores dispatching deliveries from within Beijing

Waimai Apps

Along with Taobao it can also be worth having a scan of what’s available on your go to waimai app. You'll be amazed at some of the things you can find on there! This is also a really great option if you’ve left things to the last minute and are in desperate need of at least something Halloween related to adorn yourself with. Try searching for Halloween 万圣节 wànshèngjiē or Halloween costume 万圣节服装 wànshèngjiē fúzhuāng in Chinese and you might just be able to find something if you’re in a bind.

Western Supermarkets

Lastly, quite a few Western supermarkets such as BHG or April Gourmet will have some Halloween paraphernalia available, which combined with just a little bit of imagination and creativity can serve as a Halloween costume in a pinch. Remember, you can always channel your inner Mean Girl, chuck on some animal ears and then bam, costume sorted!
