A Handful of Bars To Play Table Shuffleboard in the Capital

Following on from bars in Beijing where you can play darts and shoot some pool, next up we have some places in the capital to play some table shuffleboard. One of my favorite things about table shuffleboard is that even if you haven’t played it before it’s pretty easy to pick up and unlike other pub games doesn’t require good hand eye coordination (something I definitely struggle with).  You won’t find too many places in Beijing where you can play, but here are a few to check out.

Jing-A (Sanyuanqiao Branch)

Up at their spacious InStreet location, brewpub Jing-A has a great shuffleboard table. Running along the far left wall in the back corner, it’s conveniently placed out of the way of other patrons so you can play in peace. Why not pair up a game with a pint of one of their numerous beers and some grub from their British food menu which features some classics like Beef and Ale Pie (RMB 180), Fish and Chips (RMB 110) or Brick Lane Chicken Tikka Masala (RMB 90).

Paddy O’Shea’s

A relatively new addition to Paddy O’Shea’s is their shuffleboard table. Located upstairs on the left half of Paddy’s this area tends to be less busy than their main room. Along with the shuffleboard table they also have a darts board up here if you’re looking to add some more competitive fun into the mix. For those wanting a meal with their game, Paddy’s is a great choice as you can choose to order from their menu or you can order from one of the two restaurants located above: The Roots or Three Color Lotus.

Qixingdao 8 Club 七星岛8号Club

Located just a stone’s throw away from The Place, this out of the way bar is a hidden gem. Don’t be put off by the flower shop when you first walk in, you’re in the right place and just need to go up the stairs to find the bar. As a lesser known bar compared to some of the others on this list, if you go here it’s a pretty safe bet that the shuffleboard table will be free as it’s normally a lot less busy. They have a large beer fridge as well as a few beers on tap and a selection of bar food. For more entertainment they have an electronic darts board and sometimes have live music performances too.

Mini Puzzle Bar 迷你休闲屋

If you’re willing to go a little further afield, or just live out this way, then you can head out to this bar located in east Chaoyang district. In keeping with the name of the bar, the first puzzle to solve is how to get in, all you need to do to get in is to go through the red fridge that’s actually a door in disguise. Inside you’ll find a shuffleboard table along with an array or other games such as foosball, arcade games, board games and traditional Chinese games like mahjong. Aside from games they also have a pretty decent selection of bottled beer and some soft drinks and mixed drinks too.
