TGIF: Kente & Silk's By the Fireside, Charity Spinathon, Hutong Theatre Performance

The weekend is here! Time for fun, relaxation, and recharging the ol' batteries ahead of *gulp* Monday morning's alarm clock. Mar 20: Beijing United charity spinathon

Wild Women on the Wall and Beijing United Family Hospital (BJU) are hosting an all-day Spinathon on Saturday, Mar 20, at Beijing Riviera in Shunyi. Spin instructors from Human in Motion will help lead the riders through this all-day event, and healthcare providers from BJU will be present to answer your health-related questions throughout the day. Join Dr. Shelley Ochs for a Qigong class at 11.30am, 1.30pm, and 3.30pm and learn from Jackie Gao how to make quick and healthy energy balls. Mar 20: "100 Years, 12 Visions" walking tour with Beijing Postcards

Why was the city wall torn down? What did the decision to move the capital in 1928 mean to Beijing? When did Beijing get its first tramway system and why was it smashed up by 50,000 angry rickshaw pullers? What was Wangfujing called during the 1960s? Join Beijing Postcards for a walk that will answer these questions and more, and piece together the history of Beijing. The walk includes a visit to the City Planning Museum, a walk in the nearby hutongs, and finally, will end at the Beijing Postcards gallery where you can check out historical maps from their collection all related to the different visions of the Capital that were explored. Mar 20: Kente & Silk Presents: By the Fireside

Join Kente & Silk for By the Fireside, a vibrant night of words, music, and socializing. Kente & Silk collaborate with the extraordinary Mystic to respond to the misrepresentation of Africans and the African diaspora with poetic justice. Check out our interview with Mystic here, and then join her for a beautiful night of Afrocentric poetry, spoken word, storytelling, and song to celebrate African representation and African women. Mar 20: Poem by Sheep at Penghao Theatre

Join Penghao Theatre for the 11th Annual Beijing NanLuoGuXiang Performing Arts Festival, starting with a performance of the play Poem by Sheep by playwright Wang ChuanChuan. Mar 21: Mission Blue documentary screening

Head to Soi Baochao to watch the feature documentary Mission Blue about legendary oceanographer, marine biologist, environmentalist, and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle, and her campaign to create a global network of protected marine sanctuaries. Mar 20-21: Explore the ancient Yellow River port town of Qikou
