Our Sister Magazine beijingkids is Looking for a New Managing Editor!


Are you a great storyteller, parenting KOL, or in the know about a variety of the latest education trends making their way into school curriculums in Beijing and beyond? If so, then this is the perfect opportunity to get involved with one of the most established lifestyle, parenting, and education resources in the capital.

We are now looking for a new Managing Editor to join our beijingkids (www.beijing-kids.com) team and be responsible for managing the content planning and production of all products of the brand, including the magazine, online website, and social media (such as WeChat, Weibo, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).

The Managing Editor is also responsible for managing the editorial team and assisting publishers in working with other departments, including the design department, sales department, marketing department, distribution department, and IT research and development to expand the brand’s influence.

The Managing Editor also needs to participate in relevant community activities on behalf of the brand and work closely with the community and readers to promote the brand and its products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the content planning, writing, editing, and finalization of magazines and related publications, managing and continuously improving the content of the brand’s social media channels and website, making it active and relevant to the community
  • Plan and host the monthly selection meeting plan and journal summary meeting
  • Complete the final proof of all edits before printing
  • Collaborate with various departments to further deepen brand positioning and enhance brand influence
  • Manage the editorial team, freelance writers, columnists, and interns to ensure a positive and productive work environment
  • Represent the brand in important client and community organization activities and becoming an influential role in the international parent community
  • Manage the beijingkids Board and host a monthly meeting

Requirements

  • Education background: Bachelor’s (preferably in journalism, English, communications, social media management, etc.)
  • Has excellent English skills
  • Solid experience in writing and editing
  • Solid people management experience
  • Highly professional and able to work to deadline
  • Reliable and consistent
  • Demonstrable decision-making skills
  • Passionate about Beijing city life

Bonus points if you:

  • Speak Chinese
  • Have previous work experience with children, the education industry or in media
  • Have previous experience working with social media
  • Parents will be given priority
