Summer Wonderland Pool Party

This Saturday promises to be a Saturday like no other, with a huge day planned out at Champion World by Siyuan Bridge for this year's annual Summer Wonderland Pool Party. Organized by Pancake Lee of Aurora club fame, there'll be food, drinks, on-site tattoos, and pretty much every regular Aurora DJ, including Juliana Lima, Aida, Rhom Omit, Kaize, and Eva, among others from 1pm right through to 10pm. Tickets are RMB 260 presale or RMB 300 on the door.

Slow Boat's IPA Week rapidly approaches

Finally, something to look forward come Monday, namely Slow Boat's fifth annual IPA Week. The event "aims not only to promote the beloved beer style but also to show how the varied use of hops and hopping techniques can create distinct subsets within the style." What that means for us is the opportunity to try seven of the brewery's IPAs, each discounted to RMB 30 depending on which day you visit between Monday, Aug 26 and Sunday, Sep 1. The schedule at both their Sanlitun Brewpub and Dengshikou Taproom is as follows:

  • Monday - Monkey’s Fist Imperial IPA
  • Tuesday - Okta Hazy Double IPA
  • Wednesday - Widowmaker Brux Brut IPA
  • Thursday - Knee-Knocker Kumquat IPA
  • Friday - Qing Fu Session IPA
  • Saturday - Monkey’s Fist IPA
  • Sunday - Moon Jelly Clear NE IPA

The kitchen will also be serving their new Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich for an extra RMB 45 to soak up all that hoppy goodness.

Guest brewer at Boxing Cat

Over at Boxing Cat on Friday, Aug 23, they're getting an early start on the weekend, hosting the people behind Sweden's Smedsbo Slott to walk hopheads through the work that goes into their Belgian-style brews. The event starts at 3pm and RMB 68 gets you a pint.

Migas Mercado launch a daily happy hour

Between 4-6.30pm daily, Migas Mercado now invites you to start your sipping early with a RMB 40 deal on house wine, red or white wine sangrias, G&Ts, and mojitos. The CBD-overlooking terrace is consistently rated one of our favorite in the city and makes for a great place to unwind in the week or get the party started on weekends.

Chase White bartender guest shift at Mo Bar

On Friday, Mandarin Oriental's Mo Bar have invited guest bartender Chase White to conduct an afternoon bartending masterclass between 3-4.30pm. Chase has been head bartender of the Michelin two-star restaurant Saison in San Francisco since 2009 and before landing that prize position, cut his teeth in some of New York City’s most progressive bars, including The Daily and Experimental Cocktail Club.

Crafters free-flow Friday

Our 2019 Burger Cup runners-up Crafters Brewing Co. has just launched a new Friday all-you-can-drink happy hour, 8pm-midnight. For RMB 100, you get access to seven of their beers on tap. If you're not a beer drinker, there's also 50 percent off cocktails and spirits.
