Booze News: Eudora Station and De Refter Anniversary Parties
Feeling thirsty? Wet your whistle with Booze News, our wrap-up of the week's best bar deals, parties, drink concoctions, industry gossip, and more.
Eudora Station's 15th Anniversary Mardis Gras Celebration
Fifteen years is quite an anniversary for any business. But that's especially true in our ever volatile town, where bars open and close at dizzying speeds. So Eudora Station's 15 year anniversary this weekend is a major milestone for the pioneering, longstanding Lido pub. They'll mark the occasion with a New Orleans-style carnival, along with free-flow drinks for RMB 128 (advance) and RMB 148 (at the door), and all-you-can-eat food for RMB 178 advance or RMB 198 at the door. The party will be held over Jun 1-2.
De Refter's One Year Anniversary
How quickly time flies. Only a year ago De Refter launched in its current incarnation in Courtyard 4, selling creative fusion bao burgers (a major upgrade from their bland concept before that). Chalk that up to chef Clement Rol, who cut his teeth in Slow Boat's kitchen before heading up this venture with a new team. They're celebrating their successful first year (and only one fake closure) over Jun 1-2. On Saturday they'll have live DJs all day from 1pm until late. That afternoon music isn't the only reason to get there early – they'll also have 100 free bao, 100 free beers, and 100 free shots that you should hurry to get in on before they're gone.

Jing-A's New Running and Mug Clubs, Hazy NE IPA Launch
The news just keeps coming from Jing-A. Aside from making a big splash yesterday with the announcement of their upcoming Dongsi taproom, the craft brewers are also launching a new 80/20 Hazy NE IPA in collaboration with renowned American hoppists Yakima Hop Chief. Jing-A says this fresh brew is loaded with Mosaic and Palisade cryo hops to "blow the senses." It also has notes of tropical fruit and tangerine.
Jing-A is also kicking off a monthly Mikkeller Running Club beginning this Saturday. The runs will take place on the first Saturday of each month, and the Jing-A team says: "If you're an avid participant in our annual Beer Mile, this is right up your alley." Participants can begin the run at the back bar at Jing-A's Xingfucun brewpub this Saturday before 10.30am. From there, the runners will set out on a 6km loop. Don't worry, runners of all paces and ability are welcome to attend, and a free Jing-A beer awaits everyone at the end of the loop back at the brewpub. For more information on the run, click here.
Lastly, beginning this Monday (Jun 3) Jing-A will begin its Mug Club Monday promotion. Participants can stop by on the first Monday of every month to get a free fill of a selected beer. The aforementioned 80/20 Hazy NE IPA will be showcased for this first Monday promotion.
Great Leap's New Food Specials
While we're certainly fans of Great Leap's beer, their food is often every bit as tempting. So we're eager to pop by their Lido location from Jun 3 onward and pair a few pints with their new food specials, available for a limited time. The newbies include a blackened cod wrap; a ham and swiss piadina; a "Loco Moco" rice, beef, and fried egg mashup (pictured); and a meat platter (with roast pork belly with apple jam and pickled onion, porter glazed corned beef paired with kraut and beer mustard with a spicy kick, as well as house-cured ham with chili pineapple). Read more about these new dishes here.
