Spice Up Your Life: Urbrew Craft Beer Vows to Refresh and Soothe Spice Lovers

People of the world! Every boy and every girl: In the lead up to our second annual Hot & Spicy Festival on Apr 20-21, we’re Spicing Up Our Lives with a few of the vendors to see what searing treats they'll be doling out at the rapidly approaching fine spring weekend. This time: Joanna Zhang, marketing manager of Urbrew Craft Beer.

Hailing from neighboring Hebei province, Handan city, Urbrew has gradually grown its arsenal of beers, trying its hand at the usual run of craft wheat brews, IPAs, and stouts all crafted at their 400-acre brewing site (one of the largest in China).

With the plethora of spicy bites available at our festival this weekend, we could all use a cold beer (or three) in hand to extinguish the ever-burning flames of chili pepper in our stomachs. Luckily, Urbrew will deliver the goods with a range of beers perfect for scorched palettes. Below we speak to Joanna Zhang, Urbrew's marketing manager, about what we can expect from the fledgling local brewery.

What drink will go best with your spicy product?
All of our beers pair well with spicy dishes. I especially recommend our new Captain IPA.

When did your love of spicy food begin?
I have loved spicy food for about ten years.

Which country has the best spicy food?
I really love Sichuanese spicy food.

What is the spiciest thing you have ever eaten?
Hainan chili. I would definitely recommend trying it.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Hot & Spicy Festival?
Eating loads of delicious food, people enjoying our craft beer, and plenty of fun interactions.

Do you have any tips or tricks for eating spicy food that might help the competitors in our Hot Chili Pepper Eating Contest?
Drink more Urbrew beer, of course! It's very soothing after eating spicy food.
