EAT: New Lunch Deals at Hulu, Arcade, and Caravan, Plus a New Kombucha Subscription Service
EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.
Hulu Launches New Power Lunch Set
Hulu have launched a new lunch set that certainly looks like it will keep you full up on warm winter days. For RMB 118 you get an appetizer, main course, dessert, drink, and coffee/tea. So far, so standard lunch set but what we feel sets this lunch apart from some others available around town is the sheer amount of choice – at least five dishes to choose from for the appetizer and main course – and the fact that it includes both a soft drink (or even cheeky glass of wine) and coffee or tea. We've got our eye on the house-cured gravlax to start and the beef tartare for the main course. More details about the menu on Hulu's WeChat here.
Arcade Lunch Deal
Over in the CBD, Arcade by Hatchery have just launched a great value lunch deal that also offers plenty of choice. For RMB 58, choose from main courses like their El Pollo Picante salad bowl, spicy chicken burger or common burger, add fries, fruit and yogurt or a green salad, and then finish with an Americano or homemade craft soda. Alternatively, if you love surprises, you might want to go for the RMB 45 noodle set, which features a daily-changing bowl of noodles.
Caravan Lunch Deal
Elsewhere in the CBD, Caravan has also recently revamped their lunch menu, adding a selection of new dishes including chicken mafé, a West African dish featuring chicken in a fragrant peanut sauce. As usual, Caravan also has a strong selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including a tasty-sounding cauliflower tagine. RMB 88 gets you an appetizer, a main course, and a choice of drink.
Papp's Tea Kombucha Subscription Service
Finally, look for Papp's Tea to launch a bespoke kombucha subscription service, perfect for those concerned with their gut health (or just looking for a tasty but healthy drink to enjoy). The service will allow you to choose your own tea ingredients and flavors to design the kombucha of your dreams, delivering 16 bottles to your door every month. Subscribers will also get 40 percent off all Papp's products in-store and online. The first 20 people to sign up will pay the special price of RMB 499 per month (usually RMB 699). Note that this is a test run announced recently by Papp's and there may be changes to the service in future. Follow Papp's Tea on WeChat (WeChat ID: PAPPsTeaChina) or check their website for more info.
