Ever Wondered Why Oktoberfest is Such a Beloved Festival? Drink This Festive Brew to Find Out!

Every year in Munich, Germany from mid-September to early October, over six million liters of beer, half a million chickens, and a million cows are consumed at Oktoberfest, one of the most popular festivals in the world among beer lovers and foodies.

During Oktoberfest, a lot of bars put up blue and white decorations to get into the spirit of the festival.

This festival of feasting has a 208-year-old history. Oktoberfest originated in 1810 in honor of the King of Bavaria’s royal wedding. Now, it’s a worldwide celebration of all things German. Today, Oktoberfest attracts millions of people from around the world who flock to enjoy the unique taste of German beers.

The festival officially starts with the mayor drinking the first glass of beer. People put on leather breeches called lederhosen and drink huge glasses of beer under tents as bands play traditional music.

This year, the brewers at Goose Island China created a new beer for Oktoberfest: the Goose Fest Bier. Imbued with the Bavarian holiday spirit, it’s a beer that lets you enjoy the festival anywhere in the world.

Goose Fest Bier is inspired by the beer halls of Munich and its lederhosen-clad residents. We added toasty Munich and Vienna malts along with noble hops to create a pure, smooth golden beer that is slightly bitter and fragrant. One sip will stimulate your senses with hints of spice and delicate floral notes.

It is worth noting that while Goose Island’s innovative beers have always been brewed at Goose Island’s headquarters in Chicago, this is the first time that they have let the China team make one here for the masses. It is a true acknowledgment that the Goose Island China team meets the standards and quality of their peers in Chicago. One to drink for the history books!

Roast meat and sausages have always been the ideal food to eat with German beer. Not only is it traditional, the flavors of Goose Fest Bier pair well with the smooth texture and smokiness of these dishes. These are addictive dishes that will transport you away to Munich in one bite.

On Sep 20 and 21, Goose Island also teamed up with Lucky BBQ & Bar, Baron Bar, and FM Punch Bar in Shenzhen to throw Oktoberfest celebrations there. Each venue hosted different parties and people enjoyed Goose Fest Bier with tasty dishes while soaking in the authentic atmosphere.
