Swing Dance Monday Nite
Head to the Great Outdoors on Monday nights for beginners’ level swing dance class with a focus on the Lindy Hop and Charleston. In this first cycle, attendees will learn a few basic moves to get them dancing right away as well as the methodology needed to help develop their basics and lay a solid foundation for future lessons and moves. US and China Customs and Tariff Policy Update
Having trouble keeping up with the ongoing trade war between China and the US? This talk from the AmCham China Customs and Trade Committee looks to set the facts straight with two experts in the field who will "give us an update on customs and tariff policies from both the China side and the US side, under the context of US-China trade conflict." The British Chamber of Commerce launches their new BritCham Management Series, aiming to help Beijing's aspiring businesspeople improve their skill sets in various areas of business. This inaugural event tackles the idea of the "Elevator Pitch" as a means to tighten the introduction of your start-up, product, or services under timed conditions. The Beijing Women's Network Charity Fundraiser 2018
On Thursday, the Beijing Women's Network hold their annual fundraiser at favorite Yunnan restaurant In & Out. The event is co-hosted by Xixi Garden, an organization that delivers a comprehensive sex and relationship curriculum in schools and community centers with large populations of migrant workers, including providing sex education training to teachers, students, and parents. The evening will include a quiz, dinner, a raffle, and networking, with all proceeds going towards supporting Xixi Garden’s workshops and education. RMB 110. 6.30-9pm. In & Out

From Comics to Paintings
This dual exhibition from CAFA alumni Yan Cong and Wen Ling gathers the artists' works from over the past three years, demonstrating how each has been influenced and inspired by the medium of comic books. The exhibition hopes to examine questions that frame contemporary paintings in a positive light seeing as "comics are having a rather tense if not hostile relationship with paintings, especially those labeled as the high art.'”  Free. Spiritual Unbecoming: Three Manifestations
As part of UCCA's Performance Lectures, Spiritual Unbecoming invites young artists and thinkers to present think topics related to art "using various theoretical frameworks, blurring the borders between art-as-medium and theory-as-tool." This latest edition invites three "performers" (Hu Wei, artist; Daan F. Oostveen, philosopher; and Chuan Xu, theorist) whose work interrogates contemporary technology in unique ways and focuses on "the cultural and spiritual possibilities of a materialist interpretation of accelerationism." Free (reservation required). 2-4pm. Great Wall Pop-Up Clean-Up Hike
Skip feeling sorry for yourself this Sunday and join Gung Ho's second Great Wall Clean-Up Hike of the summer in unison with Beijing Hikers and Patagonia. The event includes transport to and from the wall, plenty of free exercise in the form of doing good by picking up other people's rubbish, an opportunity to make lots of new friends, and a bash at the end of the day with Gung Ho wood-fired pizzas, ice-cold Moa beer, and chilled Papp's Kombucha.
