Tasty Oats for Cyclists: Miss Muesli Teams With Serk for Breakfast
Keen to try the breakfast of champions, or at least the favorite morning meals of some of Beijing's fittest foodies? Then this new series by Miss Muesli may be the perfect way to settle your rumbling tummy.
The customizable muesli brand has recently unveiled its MasterMix series. This line of breakfast eats are, according to a statement from owners Klara Dlouha and Anita Zhang, "Created in cooperation with some of Beijing’s most active athletes" and "each mix is based on functional assembly of ingredients to nutritionally support the chosen activity."
The series is now kicking off with the Mr. Biker variety, the recipe for which was co-created by none other than Serk Cycling founder Shannon Bufton. He selected ingredients for the oatmeal mix, such as "goji berries, raspberries, bananas, raisins, kiwi fruit, a handful of linseed, chia, and almonds, all nested on bed of oatmeal," according to a press release, that will boost the endurance of those gobbling it down.
"At Serk, we organize boutique road cycling trips to the best locations in Beijing and China," Bufton says. "Spending a couple of hours out of the city on bike is a great way to spend your Saturday but you need some serious fuel for all that activity. Muesli is a great choice for a pre-ride breakfast so I was thrilled about an opportunity to mix my own. In cooperation with a professional nutritionist we whipped up a really powerful concoction that not only helps me on the bike but tastes delicious. I am so happy to share it with all cycling enthusiasts!"
More varieties in the series will come soon say the owners, who add: "Think Miss Yoga, Mr. Brain or especially functional mixes such as Mr. Hangover to cure your late night out."
If such a Sunday morning remedy is on the way, then Miss Muesli just might expand its customer base from health-conscious Beijingers to the swaths of booze enthusiasts milling about the hutongs near its Beixinqiao location. In that case, we hope they keep the miracle oat recipes coming!
This new muesli can be purchased for RMB 50/400g tube or RMB 100 for a 1kg plastic bag at their online store or their WeChat store (scan the QR code). Serk also hosts weekend rides to beautiful spots in and around Beijing, click here for details on their Mar. 11 ride.
