Prost to the 24th Annual Oktoberfest at Paulaner Bräuhaus, Kempinski Hotel, Oct 13-30

If you didn't make it all the way to Germany to wallow in the cheer of the Munich Oktoberfest in late September, then be happy that you didn't splash out on an event that Paulaner Brauhaus has long perfected: their Annual Oktoberfest in the beer garden of Kempinski Hotel Lufthansa Center, October 13-30, 6.30-11pm, now in its 24th year.

The restaurant's Paulaner Terrace is of massive beerhouse proportions and can seat 500 revelers, who will be treated to music from the Munich Kindl Showgirls, flown in all the way from Germany especially for the event.

All of the venue's beers only use four ingredients: malt, hops, yeast, and water, as is denoted by tradition and are brewed onsite under the keen eye of Wolfgang Sesser. Sesser will also oversee the unveiling of two new beers to mark the occasion and will only be available throughout the event: their Paulaner and Oktoberfest Biers. The annual anstich (tapping of the first beer barrel) will take place on October 13 before everyone gets suitably sloshed and stuffed.

Similar to celebrations in past years, a special Oktoberfest menu full with Bavarian cuisine will be prepared by Executive Chef Christian Meinhardt. Dishes include mountains of sauerkraut with German pork knuckles, sausage platters, and pretzels. Special event menu packages start at RMB 198, and there's a free-flow beer package available for RMB 335 (both are subject to 10 percent surcharge and VAT). Make a reservation by contacting 6465 3388 ext. 4212, or email paulaner.beijing@kempinski.com.
