Full_Screen: Multi-Sensory Art/Music Experience Taking Over Tango, Apr 30

Wow, first Strawberry Festival and now this. Although 2015's cancellations have left us cautious, it seems the May holiday is shaping up to be an epic few days for music lovers across the city.

Full_Screen is a new initiative from ShadowPlay, a long-running collective of DJs, artists, and promoters that aim to transform spaces with installation art and music to create completely immersive multi-sensory experiences. Pretty ambitious if you ask us.

It’s safe to say that currently Beijing doesn’t have anything that compares to the extensive offerings of festivals like Sónar in Barcelona. Many festivals have tried, and many have died, but this appears to be the first thing we’ve seen in a while that is at least trying to create a diverse lineup of not just techno, house, or whatever genre of dance music is hot this week, but also going deeper with artists actually trying to challenge the status quo of electronic music while remaining fun and engaging.

Full_Screen will be hosting this massive party on April 30 at across Tango's second and third floors, featuring 15 acts from six countries performing styles of music ranging from techno, house, noise, synth pop, industrial, and everything in-between. Some will perform live, some will DJ, others will provide audio/visual accompaniment, but all will be artists at the top of their various sub-genres or aesthetic paradigms. Some of the noteworthy performers coming in for this incendiary occasion include Anthony Parasole (Ostgut Ton / NYC), Syracuse (Antinote / Paris), Rahaan (Street Edits / Chicago), Tom Huet (Paris), Addictive TV (London), and Pan Daijing (Berlin). For the complete lineup and info on each of the respective acts, check out the event listing here for all of the details.

Tickets are RMB 240 on the door, RMB 180 advance, and RMB 120 for students and early bird and will be available at venues such as Cafe Zarah, Arrow Factory, and Wine Tail. All in all, a great alternative for those of you who feel Strawberry Festival isn’t really worth the two-hour bus ride.
