Koli's Camp Replaces Charcoal in Shunyi, Celebrate with 100-Liter-Free Happy Hour in March

Koli’s Camp (蜂朝精酿主题西餐厅) is the name of the ambitious new team and venue that replaced Shunyi's short-lived Charcoal in January, as I first announced here. The owner, Yang Shaojun, previously worked in the IT industry, and in our initial meeting told the Beijinger, “it’s my first time to use a 1,000-liter brewing facility, but I’m confident that my beers are above average.”

After two months of brewing and tinkering, Koli's has released three beers under the brand Y’RNEST: a lager (ABV 6.5 percent), a weissbier (ABV 5.3 percent), and an American IPA (ABV 6.3 percent). Yang also says, he would like to combine online marketing with craft beers, “the mass-production era is over, the era of craft is riding high.”

They used a means of brewing that provides the lager with a unique taste, which I found to match well with the salads on offer. For those want to try something imported, they also provide wines from around the world and bottled beers from Scotland and Germany.

Utilizing portions of the former F&B team, management have localized the menu to suit “people who work around here,” and recommend the salmon hand rolls (RMB 32), Koli’s classic 250 burger (RMB 88), and the lemon-thyme roast chicken and shrimp salad (RMB 68). I opted for the fried sweet potato (RMB 28), sprinkled with cinnamon powder, the slightly sweetness pairing well with the brews.

To promote the three beers, Koli's Camp are offering 20 percent off all day, Monday to Thursday, through March. Also customers can head to the venue and drink for free during their 100-liter-happy hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Check the venue's other promotions here
