Migas' New Brunch is all About Pintxos and Tapas ... and Free-Flow, Of Course

In true innovative Migas style, they've become bored with one brunch menu, and completely overhauled it with a new brunch menu especially for our Saturdays and Sundays. We're not complaining though, because we thoroughly enjoyed this new three-part brunch. Well, four if you include the booze. And that's no surprise, seeing as how Migas was the winner of our 2016 Reader Restaurant Awards in the 'Best Spanish/Tapas' category, and won an outstanding award in the 'Best for a Celebration' category.

Firstly, there's the pintxos. Pintxos, the Basque word for spikes, refers to food that has been skewered. In Migas' case, these are generally pieces of bread topped off with delicious toppings that fill the entire bar.

You're free to roam at your leisure and pick your favorites, ranging from salmon salad and prawn salad to roast peppers, we challenge you to see how many you can fit on your plate (and still have it be beautiful to photograph).

Secondly, there are trolleys. These trolleys come around (with great force sometimes, somewhat reminiscent of bumper carts) with fish caserolle, paella of the day, and grilled meats, when you're least expecting it. Just when you're thinking "nothing would make this brunch better than a lamb chop," the lamb chops appear (this is legit what happened).

Thirdly, there are tapas, and a little menu on which you will check off the ones you want to order. We tried absolutely every single on that was on their menu because, well, we wouldn't be very good food editors if we didn't. If you also plan to do this, make sure you've got enough people or that you're hungry because tables that leave food will be fined 15 percent!

As has become expected of Migas, they all tasted great, but favorites at our end of the table were the crispy chicken strips, which were extremely tender on the inside and came with aioli, and the croquettes for their tasty cheesy centers. And because they were also deep fried, of course.

All of these combine for a pretty messy brunch: it involves loads of sharing, eating with your hands, food falling off your bread and onto the floor (depending on how many glasses of sparkling wine you've had), and licking your fingers, which is exactly the relaxed environment you want to be enjoying on your days off.

Available between 12pm and 3pm, the brunch will set you back RMB 268. For an additional RMB 138 a head you're looking at a two-hour free-flow package which includes Codorniu sparkling wine, house wines, juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
