Yonghegong Dajie to Close to Vehicular Traffic on Monday
Traditional big crowds heading for the Lama Temple to pray for blessings on the first day of the Year of the Monkey will see the northernmost section of Yonghegong Dajie closed to all motor vehicles from 6am to 4pm on Monday.
Cars will be banned between the Second Ring Road and Jiaodaokou Dong Dajie for the duration. All hutong intersections connected to that section of road will also be closed.
Beijing Subway's Lama Temple/Yonghegong Station will require all passengers to exit from the north and enter from the south. Beixinqiao Station will close both the northeast and northwest exists. Andingmen Station will require passengers to enter from the west side and egress on the east.
Although not a temple fair, Lama Temple is a traditional Buddhist site where Beijingers pray for blessings for the new year. The temple will be open from 7am to 5pm.
We wouldn't suggest going on Monday but Yonghegong remains one of Beijing's finest sites. If you have yet to visit, have a look here to see what you're missing.
