Soul Bowls Pop-Up at The Bookworm Dishes Out Filling Hearty Sweet and Savory Bowls

The creators of popular Peruvian pop-up Buena Onda are back with a new concept: Soul Bowls, located in The Bookworm, aiming to get us all healthy just in time for Christmas.

The star of the show, the Bali barrel smoothie bowl (RMB 55), is inspired by a trend seen across much of Bali of, well, smoothies in bowls. It's pretty self explanatory. Their rendition contains frozen dragonfruit blended with bananas, raspberries, pineapple, lots of homemade paleo granola, coconut milk, goji berries, and local honey. No better way to start the day, especially as your body is fighting those nasty air particles.

There are plenty of hot options too: for example the Mexilicious (RMB 60) (to which a poached egg can be added for RMB 10) which is a warm and filling quinoa salad containing homemade organic chorizo, corn, goat's cheese, half an avocado, cherry tomatoes, chipotle, and aztec spice.

For something on the sweeter side, try the Oliver's porridge (RMB 45)  housemade paleo granola with organic yogurt and berry compote, which had slightly sour blueberries to make a good contrast with its sweetness.

Regardless of whether or not you are a morning person at heart, these bowls are worth getting yourself out of bed for this gloomy winter. There are plenty of gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options too, so something for everybody. Soul Bowls is open 8am-2pm every day until December 20.
