China Release Date Set for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2'
Here’s a little Hollywood magic we can all look forward to. Dystopian action franchise The Hunger Games will see a November 20 worldwide release of the fourth and final installment of the epic story, Mockingjay – Part 2. The conclusion of the series will send Katniss Everdeen into the lion's den of the capital as she attempts to assassinate President Snow (Donald Sutherland), who’s also hellbent on destroying her, as the entire nation of Panem is in a full scale revolutionary war.
Last year, almost to the day (Nov 22), Mockingjay – Part 1 was slated to be released but was postponed till January due to the struggling box office numbers of Chinese productions. So lets see if the authorities in charge will keep their word this time. Part 1 had a strong opening day with USD 9.87 million and went on to earn USD 31.4 million throughout the opening week, but many had already seen pirated versions of the film before it hit theaters so the numbers were a little less than was originally hoped for.
American production house Lionsgate is partnering with China Film Group to give it a massive premiere with all of that red carpet and visiting star power. You can also expect 2D and 3D release, and both overdubbed and subtitled prints.
