Prost! Paulaner Brauhaus Celebrates 23rd Annual Oktoberfest
Beijing's oldest Oktoberfest is back for its 23rd year running at Paulaner Brauhaus. This annual celebration of all things German runs every evening (6-11pm) from October 8 to 25.
As is traditional, Paulaner Brauhaus' brewmaster Wolfgang Sesser has brewed gallons of Oktoberfest Bier, made with just barley, hops, yeast, and water according to Bavarian purity laws. Sesser spent 17 years brewing at the original branch of Paulaner in Munich, so you know his credentials are up to snuff.
If all that beer has you feeling like breaking out your dancing shoes (and judging by the crowd on our visit for most people it certainly did), then veteran Oktoberfesters Donautal Duo and Gaudimax will be on hand providing some humorous musical diversions, as well as leading the all important (and scarily frequent) toasts.
Of course, you'll need some food to soak up all that beer. There are four group menu packages for a minimum of 10 people available. The basic silver package priced at RMB 328 per person includes a German bread selection, cheese and cold cut platter, a selection of sausages with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, and apple strudel. The first class package includes a host of German dishes, as well as free-flow Oktoberfest beer and an Oktoberfest souvenir, at RMB 795 per person.
There is the option to add free-flow Oktoberfest beer to the other menu packages, or just on top of the a la carte, for RMB 320 per person. All prices are subject to 15 percent service charge.
