Deep Breath: Heavy Smog Predicted for March 6, 7
Here we go again. For the first time since Chai Jing's Under the Dome anti-pollution documentary took China by storm last week, Beijing is likely to be shrouded in smog.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection has warned of heavy smog in some parts of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area on those two days. "The north of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will experience 'fine and light air pollution' for the next three days, while central and southern parts will see 'light to heavy pollution'," the Ministry said in a statement.
If your plans involve being outdoors, maybe it's time to develop an indoor plan B.
The Ministry also warned that today's (Mar 5) celebration of Lantern Festival, the final night of the Spring Festival celebration and the last night of fireworks permitted within the Fifth Ring Road, could push pollution readings to "grave" levels.
This weekend might be a good time to watch "Under the Dome," the new anti-pollution documentary that has lit up the Internet in China. Read more here to find out how to see it with English subtitles.

Otherwise, see our Events section for indoor alternatives. Or buy yourself an air filter that costs under RMB 1,000.
