First Glance: Juice by Melissa, Xinzhong Dongjie

Juice by Melissa is one of the more established names on the Beijing juice cleansing scene and now they have taken it a step further by opening their first retail store. The bright, airy store is located just east of the Great Leap No. 12 Brewpub. One side of the store is taken up with big fridges holding a selection of their organic, cold pressed juices, while the other side has a few tables for those eating (or drinking) in.

Apart from juices, they are also planning a menu of super food dishes and fit food to eat instore or take away. For now, you can sample warming vegan soups or order a coffee served with nut milk.

I've been trying quite a few of the juice companies around town recently and I must say there are a couple of things I really like about Juice by Melissa:

The punny juice names, like Beet Pollution (beet, kale, strawberry, lemon, ginger) and Refresh Mint (watermelon, lime, mint)
The sleek black and white branding, and the fun slogans like "Cleanse like a 老板" (that's boss, for non-Chinese speakers)
The juices themselves are really thick and luscious; whether you're doing a cleanse or just enjoying a juice by itself, the 500ml bottles are really filling
