Pizza Fest Wrap-up: 3,000 People, Countless Pizzas, and a Good Time Had By All
Nine hours, 3,000 visitors and countless numbers of slices later, the Beijinger's Pizza Cup Launch Party is but a memory – and the launch of the Pizza Cup is imminent. As you await the bracket of 64, we bring you scenes from Saturday's festivities (see more in our full galleries here and here).
Galaxy Soho evolved slowly over the course of the day, with the 11am crowd heavily family-oriented and kids tossing dough and making pizzas and other goodies with Gung Ho!, Pizza Express and Siemens. Early crowd favorites were Pizza+ and Tube Station, with lines snaking across the venue for the capacity crowd. As the afternoon moved on, visitors came by to have a slice or two (or nine), and by late afternoon the hipsters descended and the booze began to flow in earnest.
Cousin Kippy kept the crowd peppy with his tunes and Violet & the Hunters were a big hit with the photo-fanatical crowd.
In the mean time, stay tuned to the blog tomorrow as we offer up your official selections in the Pizza Cup and voting begins in earnest.
