Beijing to Xiamen Bullet Train Tickets Now on Sale, First Train July 1

According to What’s on Xiamen, tickets for the Beijing to Xiamen bullet train are now on sale, with the first G165 train departing from Beijing South Railway Station at 8.45am on July 1, arriving in Xiamen at 9.30pm.

During the 1,700km and 12.45 hours between Beijing South and Xiamen North, the train will weave through Jinan West, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wenzhou, and Fuzhou stations. The returning G166 train departs from Xiamen at 7.53am and arrives in Beijing at 8.35pm, starting July 2.

Tickets will cost approximately RMB 2,580 for business class, RMB 1,285 for first class, and RMB 830 for second class.

In comparison, the cheapest direct flight that I can currently find from Beijing to Xiamen on July 1 (with Hainan Airlines) will set you back RMB 1,100 and take two hours and 50 minutes of your precious time. So, is it worth it? Not really, unless you really like eating fangbian mian and playing cards for half a day.
