You’re Invited: “RIP Black Sun” Blowout Party This Friday

A few things we've come to love about the Black Sun under current management: Its "bargain-basement" drink deals, bustling pool and foosball tables, darts nights, erstwhile Tuesday Quiz Nights (who can forget the short-lived midnight Sports Quiz), the touching cancer tribute mosaic lining the ceiling of the bar area and an ever gregarious pint-sized Geordie manning the bar. But come Friday, the casual hangout will be no more – at least, in its current guise.

After two years of running the bar near Chaoyang Park West Gate, manager Tom has decided it's time to move on. And he wants to extend an invitation to Beijingers to help the bar close with a bang this Friday, July 26, with an "RIP Black Sun" Blowout Party featuring DJ Prison Chaplain, drink deals, and guest bartenders. Manager Tom posted the following details on Weibo yesterday:

Its gonna be a bloodbath with Brad’s bloody marys, DJ prison riot, raunchy bartenders, RMB 10 tequila and loads more… #ripblacksunbar#

It’s the last ever Prison Riot at The Black Sun this Friday. DJ Prison Chaplain will be throwing the tiles from the roof like it’s Strangeways, there’ll be celebrity bartenders and Tommy Barry promises we can drink the bar dry. RIP BS

This isn't the first time management at the Black Sun has changed hands. While Tom will be handing the keys back to its previous owners, the future of The Black Sun is unclear, so your best bet is to get your fill while you can.
