Beijing Punk Fest Turns 10 in August
Beijing Punk Festival is back for another year and will be celebrating their 10th anniversary at 2 Kolegas on August 24.
These are the highlights of this year’s band lineup:
Also expect DJs and the 2Kolegas standard, grilled lamb, on the lawn. According to the festival's press release, last year’s Punk Fest drew a total of 10,000 people to Mao Livehouse and the festival has drawn punkers from all over the country, and globe, over its 10-year lifespan. Expect to see a rainbow of mohawks and inhale a variety of fumes, non-exclusive to sweaty leather.
Watch: Intro to Beijing Punk Festival 2013
Last Friday the Beijing Punk Fest crew and their sponsor, Dr. Martens, who are joining the festival for a third year, held a small launch ceremony at 2 Kolegas. The frontman for Mi San Dao and face of the festival, Lei Jun, got a little nostalgic, sharing anecdotes about Dr. Martens boots (cough, bullsh*t).
Hell City got on stage and played a ripping new song entitled "New Age." We caught a little video of their performance that you can watch at the bottom of this post. The festival crew and footwear marketing team also served a chocolate cake that was crowned with a mean-looking plastic skinhead and punk. It tasted good. Anarchy shall prevail.
See you at the festival. Things should get rolling at around 2pm, stay tuned for updates on price.
