Transformation Unveiled: Modo Urban Deli Opens Today
Back in late March, Modo was forced to close due to new enforcement of fire and safety regulations in Tai Koo Li. The team behind Modo and Mosto embraced this as a positive move in a direction they had been eventually intending to move and used the opportunity to remove the mezzanine (as required), but also to give the space and concept a fresh look.
And so, three months later, here we are with Modo Urban Deli.
The official opening is today, June 18 at 6pm. From tomorrow, regular hours will be daily from 10.30am-11pm, with last orders at 10pm.
Obviously a big change is that there is no mezzanine anymore, but the space still has seating for casual all-day dining. The team has placed a big focus on a new deli counter with lunch boxes and dinner options for take-away. They'll be offering delivery through Sherpa's and Jinshisong, in addition to catering for office and home events.
The menu encompasses the delicatessen range (soups, salads, cheese plates, sandwiches and burgers, a few pasta and main options). Things to look forward to? A quinoa salad (RMB 58), the quiche of the day (RMB 48), a Scandinavian sandwich with smoked salmon (RMB 65), and a deli sandwich with Italian salami or smoked turkey (RMB 58).
Notably, Modo Urban Deli is partnering with three of the city's independent artisan ventures: Coffee from Rickshaw Roasters Coffee Co. (RMB 20-30), tea from Tranquil Tuesdays (RMB 28), nd an Andouille and Chorizo sausage plate from Max Levy at Traitor Zhou's (RMB 108).
I look forward to checking it out shortly, having a glass of wine and a charcuterie board, and letting you know what it's all about. But hopefully, you get there first.
