Keanu Reeves' Man of Tai Chi Hits Cinemas July 5

This is the trailer for Keanu Reeves' directorial debut Man of Tai Chi, which will get an early release in China on July 5. Scenes from the kung fu film, which isn't expected to reach other countries until the fall, were screened at Cannes earlier this week. According to the The Guardian:

"Clips from the film shown in Cannes suggest spectacular fight sequences and a sleekly modern production design of blankly mysterious, grey-painted rooms, instructions barked to the hero by unseen figures behind two-way mirrors and cars driven at speed by tough-faced enigmatic women along China's freeways."

The film is about your average Beijing delivery man who doubles as a martial-arts artist. He inevitably loses his former self while in an underground battle to fight Keanu Reeves' evil character and must decide how to channel his newfound power. (We think you may have to step up your game after this one, Gung Ho. Speedy service just isn't enough anymore.)

Man of Tai Chi was wrapped up 10 days ago after 105 days of shooting in Hong Kong and Beijing. You may remember the star was spotted with his trainer, Tiger Chen, at different venues around the capital. With huge amounts of funding from the Chinese government, the kung fu flick is expected to be another hard-hitter in the Chinese box office, right on the heels of Iron Man 3.
