Call-Dak Delivery in Wudaokou: I Feel Like (Korean Fried) Chicken Tonight

I've got a thing for fried food, in case you haven't figured it out yet, so I'm always on the lookout for a good Korean fried chicken. Wudaokou's the most likely spot in town to find it, but Korean fried chicken fortunes rise and fall quickly in the "Wu".

Every time I dial my favorite joint, I brace myself for the sad empty number notification from the robot lady. At least for now, the Call-Dak delivery service is my new go-to, and I hope it sticks around for a long while.

Original flavor costs RMB 70 for a whole bird, with or without bones. For RMB 75, you can get your chicken with a sweet soya sauce or a garlic sauce. Since it doesn't have any sauce, original flavor lets you enjoy the crunch of the batter and the savoriness of the meat. The sweet sauce had a mysterious hint of apple to it that is likely to produce some polarized reactions. The punchy garlic sauce was a clear favorite. If you're having trouble deciding, you can do a mix-and-match with two different flavors.

Orders come with a free coke, a small salad and a small cup of pickled radish. When I talked to them, they said they only had chicken and steamed, but their menu also lists kimbap (RMB 15) and fries (RMB 10).

Call-Dak's open until 2 in the morning, so nearby students can look forward to midnight snacks when they're up late "cramming".
