Beijing Subway Worker Held Hostage, Man Shot
This morning, news of a hostage situation last night at Line 10's Hujialou station has been making waves online. Netizens have a lot of opinions about what happened – and what should have happened.
According to reports, around 10pm, a man in a black top held a female subway staffer hostage at knifepoint near the ticket-selling machines at Exit B of Hujialou subway station. According to an eyewitness, the man was yelling and the hostage was crying. Police arrived and evacuated the scene. Exits were locked and all trains were ordered to bypass Hujialou station.
A negotiation expert was brought in. Police offered to trade one of their own for the hostage but the suspect refused. After 70 minutes of negotiation, the suspect still refused to cooperate. A sniper from the Blue Sword Force (蓝剑突击队) shot the suspect, and the hostage was rescued.
Comments from Weibo:
- I don’t know what happened, but can’t we protect the suspect’s right as well as the hostage’s right?
- Everybody does things for a purpose. Just because the negotiating didn’t go well, you shoot them…
- Can’t we just throw some sleep bomb and drug both the hostage and the suspect?
- Shoot, shoot, if you can’t think of anything, shoot, done, simple.
- All people who hold others as hostages deserve to die.
- Hold a hostage in Beijing Subway? This is committing suicide.
- The guy who got shot is the abandoned child of society.
- Security check is only a formality.
- Every time something like this happens, the security check will be more enforced.
- Why would you hold a security inspector? Think about it more. Without a plan, you die fast.
- Thank god it wasn't a bomb.
- Even though most of the security checks are just a formality, if not for these staffers, maybe a female passenger would have been hurt. We should pay respect to this girl.
- Women should all work in offices.
- Female security inspectors are for checking female passengers – you can’t just dismiss them.
- All girls should study taekwondo when they are young.

Re: Beijing Subway Worker Held Hostage, Man Shot
I think Beijing should institute a 100 day crackdown on all Chinese people wearing black tops. You know a lot of Chinese people who wear black tops are either snakeheads or trash, and they need to be purged from society.
Hopefully Yang Rui is paying attention and will come out with some harsh commentary soon.

Well played Blue Sword sniper... kinda strange though how they have POLICE on their outfits in English and not Chinese.
