iFood, You Food, We All Want Indian Food

In the dizzying array of food places at the Wangjing International Trade Center, it would be easy to miss iFood. If you’re interested in a fancy meal, missing it would probably be for the best. But if you’re craving some fast-food Indian, you might want to consider stopping by.

They’ve cut the menu down to the essentials, but there are a couple of hidden gems worth having a go at. The chicken tikka masala (RMB 38) was flavorful without being overwhelming. I thought it went well with the garlic naan (RMB 10), though I would probably wouldn’t have called it naan – it was unusually thin and crispy. The Indian tea (RMB 10) was warm and strong, providing a nice contrast to the other flavors.

And then there are some menu items that still need some work. The chicken curry with rice might have been a bargain for RMB 18, but overall the dish was under-spiced and not up to par with the chicken masala. The mango lassi for RMB 12, likewise, was disappointing and somewhat watery.

But of course we couldn’t try everything. Some of the other things that sparked our attention on the menu were the mutton curry (RMB 25), the butter chicken (RMB 38), the lamb masala (RMB 42), and the palak paneer (28). Also on offer was the Dragon Set Menu – for RMB 38 you get a chicken soup, a salad, a chicken curry, a vegetable curry, and rice. Seems like a deal to us.

So if you’re looking for a really good Indian meal, you may want to stick with the old favorite, Ganges. But if you’re based in the Wangjing or Lido area and are happy with Indian food with a lower-case "i," then you should definitely head on over.
