Scrumthing for the Weekend: Who's Showing the Rugby World Cup Final?

Six weeks of rugby finally draws to a close in New Zealand this Sunday, with the hosts facing up against France in the Rugby World Cup Final in Auckland. The match kicks off at 4pm Beijing time, and here are a few places where you can watch it in Beijing.

The Den
It's rugby. Of course it's on in The Den. There'll be little elbow room, lots of large men and the Beijing Devils will likely be out in force. There will be no flourishes, just the traditional Den hospitality and the 5-10pm happy hour (half-price pizza, almost half-price beer).

Paddy O’Shea’s
Likely to be as rammed as The Den, Paddy's is sure to be electric this Sunday. The place will be packed, the big screens will be on, and Karl will have his rugby shirt ironed specially for the occasion. We hear they're even looking for a Hakka group. Happy hour is 3-8pm.

The Stumble Inn
Heineken are taking over The Stumble Inn for a busy day of sport and music. They're getting a 4m x 3m screen in for the rugby, happy hour runs until 9pm and the Beijing Beatles will be playing right after the match.

Union Bar & Grille
Union attracts a passionate rugby crowd, and though seating will be at a premium the atmosphere's likely to be pretty good. Happy hour from 4-8pm.

Frank’s Place
The Lido hotspot is sure to be busy on Sunday, with food and drink specials all afternoon.

Grinders
The Shuangjing outpost and Canadian culture center still wishes it could be the Hockey World Cup, but they're getting behind the oval ball game anyway. If you're down south this is your best bet. Grinders' happy hour fits snug around the match, running from 3-7pm.

Pomme O’Shea’s
Shunyi loves a bit of rugby, so the Pomme is likely to be at breaking point for the final.

The Green Cap
Much the same story as Pomme O'Shea's. The Cap is also celebrating its first anniversary this weekend, so go and clink a glass with Pat and Nana Walsh if you're watching here.

The James Joyce
The newcomer is getting busier by the day, but still a bit quieter than many of the other bars on this list: if you want to watch the game in relative peace, you could do worse than the Joyce.

Irish Volunteer
When we watched the final of the Stanley Cup here, it was so packed we had to stand outside and look in through the window. Expect a repeat.

So that's the rugby, but the sport doesn't end there. Once the scrumming, rucking and mauling is over and done with, Manchester's football clubs face off at 8pm in the English Premier League.
