Relaxing Beijing Driving for a Day
We’ve often linked to Dr Richard's excellent blog “MyHealth Beijing” concerning medical matters in Beijing, but today the good doctor posted something a little different, that might be of interest for those with a vehicle or willing to rent a taxi for the day…
Dr. Richard has created a list of his “Top Relaxing Drives in Beijing,” offering suggestions for those looking escape the nightmare of Beijing city traffic.
All of the drives are two hours or less from the city and include sightseeing or activities at the destination and along the route.
His recommendations include traveling out to the western mountains via Highway 108 where a trek into the mountains offers opportunities for checking out temple complexes amid forests, relaxing in a temple tea house and boating in Silver Fox Cave.
Going east past the airport expressway Dr Richard mentions the Hanshiqiao wetlands, which can be explored with a boat or bike, peach orchards in Pinggu, and gondola-accessible Panshan mountain.
More in-depth descriptions and other drives can be found on Dr Richard’s blog. Additional day trips for those in need of a dose of nature and greenery are also listed in this posting.
