Nali Patio Slated to Reopen on Jul 8

The Sanlitun nightlife spot Nali Patio has been through a rough month, but things are on the up with the space set to reopen to the public Friday, Jul 8, according to our sources.

Thus far most restaurants in the complex plan to reopen this Friday, although when we visited today around lunchtime we found the Nali Patio sign above the east entrance has been taken down (as seen in image below). We reached out to the current landlord, Jianming Properties, for comment, but received no explanation.

As we reported last week, the outgoing property manager – who handed ownership of Nali back to Jiaming Properties on midnight Jul 1, following the refusal to renew a sublease agreement due to a dispute over rents – hired a demolition crew to bulldoze large sections of the southern half of Nali. Reportedly this was in order to bring it back to the way it was when the sublease began over a decade ago.

Of the restaurants and shops within the complex, cocktail bar Black Moth, hair salon C30, and Spanish restaurant Carmen left Nali before the closure. While Black Moth and C30 left due to unrelated issues, it should be noted that Carmen was owned by the previous property manager.

Following this, Mosto announced its closure on Jun 29, although it’s unclear if the restaurant is gone for good or will return. Other spots within Nali – including Bottega, Daruma, El Barrio, Wagyukami, and M Natural were open for waimai for a short time, all restaurants have since temporarily closed.

Bottega, Daruma, El Barrio and Wagyukami will all be reopening on Jul 8, as will popular rooftop bar the Bell by Martini. Moka Bros, which has a shop on the north side of Nali Patio, said they are currently unsure when they'll reopen, and we were unable to reach Mosto or M Natural for comment.

It should also be noted that the venue was closed by the local government due to safety issues surrounding debris from the demolition, with Jiaming working to clean up and reopen by Jul 8.

We’ll keep you posted with the latest on this continuing story.
